RE: What's the difference between brake controllers?
It seems to me that if you did not have the tv brakes to create deceleration, then your Prodigy controller wouldn't work either.
That's a very good point -- was not towing in either instance, so don't know how the prodigy would behave... I imagine that there is the electical brake impulse sent to the brakes combined with inertia control, which would be worthless if the TV brakes failed... There is the manual overide switch on the prodigy. That might help some.
RE: What's the difference between brake controllers?
Problem: This seems to me to result in a system where a brake line failure would result in a loss of at least half the TV brakes and as much as ALL the trailer brakes. If true, that's a major safety drawback of the system.
hmmm...what do you think the odds are of having a brake line failure?
I used to own and operate a multiple car limousine service, and I've owned many cars and a few trucks and never had one. (Let me tell you limousine drivers are REALLY hard on cars).
You've never lived in the north east I take it? I've had 2 brake line failures on 2 different trucks I owned...
To the subject, I bought a prodigy for our 11K 5'er and have been very happy with it.
